64 to 32 bit downgrade

I currently have vista ultimate 64 bit, and I own a windows 7 professional 32 bit thanks to my university.

can I install the 32 bit version of windows 7 over my current 64 bit version of windows ultimate? will I need to do a clean install or will it just upgrade?

also just checking that downgrading from vista x64 to win7 x86 is possible before I try anything.

As jfar stated, you will need to do a clean install, unless you can obtain a copy of the 64bit version from your school.

If you plan on using the 64bit version you will want to upgrade your ram to 4gb, but other than that it will run just fine..

I'll give you the 2 GB part, as it means x64 isn't really a necessity. I'd still go with it and upgrade the memory.

As for the wireless network comment, my resistance power is weak. Whoever told you that needs a swift kick between the butt cheeks. If you have drivers for your wireless card in Vista x64, then you should also be able to have it working in Windows 7 x64. Once you do, connecting to a wireless network is fully functional.
