Before you read about my proble, read this thread: Computer Desktop/Brower/Taskbar Unresponsive to mouse - Tech Support Guy Forums

This problem persists in safe mode, it isn't a virus or anything as i've done various scans... Sometimes, just the taskbar is responsive and others just the desktop and windows are responsive. The problem is only with the mouse, the cursor can still fly around the screen but it has no effect when you click or hover over the desktop.

The problem is user related as there is no problem in the guest account.
This problem started today, I restored to 1 week ago and same problem. I really don't feel like reinstalling windows 7.:sleepy:

Hello Kyle, and welcome to Seven Forums.

As a test and workaround, create a new administrator account and see how things run it. If everything runs ok, then copy the files you want to keep from your old user account user folders into the corresponding new account's user folders. Next, delete the old account.

If not, then you might see if a repair install may help without losing anything.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Win7 64 unresponsive

I have a brand new system - it ran fine for the first 5 days - then it started becoming unresponsive. And it seems to be happening more frequently.

What I mean by "unresponsive" is the mouse still works but nothing happens when you click it and there is no response at all to the keyboard. Ctrl-Alt-Del - Nothing

I installed Antifreeze that is supposed to help in situations like this and - Nothing!

I don't believe it is the install - this was a factory install.

Windows Update is up to date

I am running the Dell Diagnostics right now - nothing so far.

I can try running in safe mode - but it is infrequent enough that I am not sure how long I would have to do that to know that it works.

Any other ideas out there?
