Hi all

I want to get a new sound card (prob. an Asus) but all of the ones that I want are 7.1.

I don't want to change my speakers because I just want really good music (not really bothered about games and surround movies), and the speakers are 2.1.

My question is: will these sound cards reconfigure for a basic left/right/sub speaker set?

My motherboard is designed for surround sound too, and it has never given me a problem. I want to make sure that there is something similar going on for dedicated sound cards.

Many thanks in anticipation.

You can still configure for 2.1 speakers, its just what the maximum capability of the sound card is. Just connect your speakers to the GREEN speaker jack (or equivalent if its something different) and then set your speaker system in the Sound Panel.
