Hi guys, I'm using 32-bit Windows 7. Everything seems to work fine until I browse the Internet. I've got both IE and Firefox installed and system freezes at some point of browsing through the web pages. Thought it could be something to do with my GPU so I updated to latest drivers but it didn't solve the problem. Any ideas? It's really annoying and I would like to continue using Win 7 for some time.

Thanks in advance.

That's the first thing I did after installing Win 7, my network adapter is abit AirPace Wi-Fi Wireless, driver version 5.1.1.10 which appears to be the latest one. Any other suggestions? It's definitely the case with web browsers; I can use the system without it freezing but when using a browser for a certain amount of time, Windows freezes and i need to reboot. Also, it's fine when the browser is minimised!

I'm getting the exact same issue.

System hangs completely when browsing the net, using either IE or Firefox, with any AV installed. Other than that, Windows 7 has been stable.

Interestingly my hardware specs are very similar :

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz (2 CPUs)
2GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX
Realtek HD Audio
mobo Abit AB9 Pro
I'm not using a wireless network, though, but a wired one using the motherboard connections. It's not a generic network issue, as I have played online gaming for many hours under Windows 7 without issue.

I updated my GPU drivers and it seems to freeze a lot less now. In last few days it only froze 2 times. So if you have Nvidia graphics card, go on their website and download latest drivers (for Windows Vista).

I'm running Nvidia Driver 7.15.11.7923 (20/11/2008) obtained by clicking Update Driver in Device Manager.

Not really certain that I want to install Vista drivers on Windows 7 when Nvidia are recommending not to.

I have same freezing problem in my win 7... This Safe mode works fine and normal mode without browsing net :/

I have also Abit ab9 pro, 6600 core 2 duo, 8600 GTS...so the problem could be somewhere in the mobo lan drivers... I tried to update them but it freezes still
I have nvidia newest drivers for win 7. probably I'll try other drivers :/

Also getting trust/broadcom usb bluetooth working have been quite hard :/

I'm using the Nvidia drivers that came on the install disk and not having any problems yet.

The general consensus is that the Vista display drivers work better with Windows 7.

I have found this to be true. So you guys might want to try some of the new Vista display drivers. I'am using the eithernet drivers that came with Windows 7.

I have a similar system running a dual core but no freeze ups ever using 7077. Using 180.48 display drivers. It might also help if you get the latest Adobe flash player.

Have to check that... I still wonder how my system end up crashing while browsing internet if the problem is in display drivers :/

what ethernetdrivers you have? (for abit ab9 pro realtek 10/100/1000 ethernet component)

I Installed RC1 7100... it worked very smoothly for two days without restarting.. and I didn't update the drivers yet...After first boot of the system it started to freeze again :/ In safe mode it does not freeze... I start to think that its is the GF 8600gts thats causing the freezing...because overheating? In savemode the fan is on full speed whole the time and in normal start it is in some guiet mode.. propably I'l go and buy new one or jsut buy a new fan.. of just fanless zalman and try again...

I'm having same issue with browsing the internet and freezing on my Lenovo R61 laptop with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Win7.

After about 15-20 minutes, the browser will randomly freeze, then everything else in Windows starts becoming unresponsive (it's like a chain reaction), and everything will stay frozen for 2-3 minutes. It always comes out of the freeze after 2-3 minutes and everything starts working/responding normally again.

Hey,

I found this in my ntbtlog.txt(in windows root):
.
.
.
.lot of drivers loaded :) until
.
.

Did not load driver @hal.inf,%acpi_amd64.devicedesc%;ACPI x64-based PC
Did not load driver @cpu.inf,%intelppm.devicedesc%;Intel Processor
Did not load driver @nv_lh.inf,%nvidia_g84.dev_0400.1%;NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)
Did not load driver Wanarpv6.SYS
Did not load driver TermDD.SYS
Did not load driver RDPCDD.SYS
Did not load driver RDPREFMP.SYS
Did not load driver mssmbios.SYS
Did not load driver discache.SYS
Did not load driver blbdrive.SYS
Did not load driver @hdaudio.inf,%hdaudiofunctiondriver.generic.devicedesc%;High Definition Audio Device
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\NDProxy.SYS
Did not load driver @hdaudio.inf,%hdaudiofunctiondriver.generic.devicedesc%;High Definition Audio Device
Did not load driver Apple iPhone

so...

at least these drivers:
intel processor
Nvidia GF
ACPI drivers
Audio drivers

have to start trying to fix them one by one....

Had a similar problem, ( IE Not responding) so looking further, and comparing my notes on items installed. I found and removed a tweaking Internet program.
Strange all my "not responding" stopped. Them 3rd party program can and do cause MANY PROBLEMS...suggest
make a note and uninstall, run then uninstall another- when you find the last uninstalled program stopped the error.... NOTE it, then start adding the others back... That is also called Beta Testing.

If anyone happens to be experiencing freezing on Lenovo laptops, READ THIS:

2 days after installing this driver, I've been "freeze-up free!" *knocks on wood*

I would usually freeze at least a couple times per hour before for 2-4 minutes, and I haven't frozen once since I installed this driver.

Here is the link to the Intel Turbo Memory driver that fixed the freezing for me on my Lenovo R61 model:

Lenovo Support & downloads - Intel Turbo Memory Driver for Windows Vista - ThinkPad Reserve Edition, R400, R500, R61, T61, T61p, T400, T500, W500, W700, W700ds, X200, X200s, X200 Tablet, X300, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet

Just an FYI -- after installation, it asks you to restart your computer a second time after the initial restart, which you do need to do.

When I get PC's with connection problems i do 3 things first

1. reset browser (in advance tab in internet options)
2. reset ip stack (open a cmd window as admin and type: netsh int ip reset reset.log)
3. make sure ipv4 is on

If it is a configuration problem that usually fixes it. After that start messing with drivers. A lot of ppl install a lot of addons and junk to the browser that breaks stuff.
