I noticed that hal.inf didn't load on 1 of your previous posts, did you fix this? If you are having HAL problems i would think that is the root of your problems. I get problems like this when i put the wrong image on a pc and the HAL is wrong.

i encountered freezes too. they are quite boring and you can't find where the problem comes from. It was better if it were a BSOD. Freeze begins from browser and later extends on all the system (strangly not on mirc where i can chat while all the system is frozen).

I have the same problem. I'm using all the new drivers so I doubt it has anything to do with that. If it were due to the GPU drivers the pc would freeze when I'm doing something else. But it doesn't, it only freezes when I'm browsing the internet, no matter what browser I use, be it IE 64 or 32 bit, Opera, Firefox... It takes some time to freeze, sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 2 hours but it freezes. What on earth could be causing this? It's really becoming annoying  Makes me wanna go back to Vista.

Hi guys, I'm using 32-bit Windows 7. Everything seems to work fine until I browse the Internet. I've got both IE and Firefox installed and system freezes at some point of browsing through the web pages. Thought it could be something to do with my GPU so I updated to latest drivers but it didn't solve the problem. Any ideas? It's really annoying and I would like to continue using Win 7 for some time.

Same here. I tried running different browsers at the same time accessing the same site to see if it was a browser issue.
It isn't.

I have a Realtek RTL8139/810x not exactly a little used adaptor.

I highly doubt it's a malware or virus, Windows 7 is unlikely to catch one immediately after a clean install.

At the moment I ain't using an antivirus at all, have never used one on Vista and never needed one, never had any virus nor any problems.

Could we get your networking info, what browser, and spec info abt what happens. If you guys want to get this rolling you could also go into event viewer (type event viewer into search) and see what errors that are relevant to this, snip a pic and upload it.

This is REALLY getting annoying, my pc froze on me twice while typing this.
Networking info? Wireless internet, first connecting to a local wireless network via a PCI WLAN adapter, Air Love WT-2000PCI to be precise, then connecting to the internet via a PPPOE connection. Browser? Doesn't matter which I use, it always freezes.

Haven't seen any error report in the event viewer.

P.S. The pc freezes ONLY when I'm browsing, it DOES NOT freeze when I'm playing online games, chatting on msn and such.

I can understand how frustrating it is. Im trying to figure out if its a firewall/av prob or a connectivity prob. with ppoe im leaning towards that. did you have a previous OS? and did you have this problem then?

Thanks for trying to help.

It's the same deal when I turn of the firewall, and like I said I'm not using any AV right now.

I did have a similar problem when I went from XP to Vista, however I solved that problem with getting a new WLAN PCI card. The problem was bigger then however since I wasn't able to do anything at all cause as soon as I connected to the internet my pc would freeze. Now however I can do everything but surf and the freezing sometimes happens right away and sometimes takes minutes. Some particular sites however seem to speed up the waiting time

I could understand the problem then as I couldn't get online at all, but I don't understand it now as I can do everything but browse websites, kind of doesn't make sense.

Had similar problems with Explorer hanging up. Found that it was caused by an Explorer addon, so suggest you look at the addons, and remove all of them and run for awhile. If it is one of them causing the problem easy enough to enable them one at a time until you find out which one is causing the problem

I repeat: ANY BROWSER will freeze my pc, not just internet explorer, doesn't matter which one I use.

I already told you about what happened with Vista.

And no, I won't re-install cause that won't solve anything since I installed Win 7 RTM on a clean and formated disk and the problem started right away. I'll either solve it or go back to Vista (Which I really hope I won't have to do).

Finally, after hours of going through the logs and identifying the errors and what's causing them I found one thing that might be the troublemaker, I erased it and VOILA, no freezes anymore, at least not up till now. The program that caused the trouble was non other than NERO BURNING ROM. That said, does anyone know some other good burning software?

If another freeze happens I'll be sure to post again, hope this is the end of my problems.

Are u sure Alcohol works on Windows 7? I've read that neither alcohol nor deamon tools work yet.
