7 freezes while browsing Internet

I have the NVIDIA GeForce 6100 integrated....I found a Vista driver for it, installed that, and so far, no more freezing...
Keep in mind I just installed the driver this morning, but so far so good. (I should have noticed something by now.)

HTH

As I see through all the thread, everyone has a different solution applying to the same kind of problem. For the ones who haven't fixed it yet, keep an eye (if possible) on the updates and the action center. Mine showed up an update about the uGuru power manager but i'm very afraid of installing it (by no means I don't want the freezing issues back)

Does anyone else have NVSVC running as a service? I just looked in event viewer, and NVSTOR32 keeps issuing a warning about a nonexistent RAID configuration.

Needless to say, I disabled NVSVC. I'll report back later.

Not me; try also disabling ip-helper service (someone may have already told this before but nevermind!)

Windows seven freezes

I have read the forum topic and many of the supposed suggestions are not valid. I have the same issues with a new PC which came with Vista installed and the seven upgrade offer when released. I have hadthe PC for about 4 months and had no problems on the network with either my old PC or the new one.

Once I received the update disc and installed windows 7, all compters on the network ghave the same issue when browsing, so its something affecting the netwotrk and not a particular computer.

I have went out and bought the newest router that supported windows 7. I have had my ISP trouble shooting and they even made a service appointment and checked my system, and could ot find the problem. They even assigned me a new IP address and changed the router settings to this address and still no luck.

I have disabled the windows firewall on both computers to insure there is no firewall issues with two running and no luck.

And yes people this was a clean install of windows 7 with no junk added on. Yes I have the new drivers installed for the new router just purchased two weeks ago, and yes all computers on the network connected to the router have the same issues which they never had before.

It appears to be some security issue as i notices the freezes seem to happen when the web site advertising is tryng to load when i watch the progess bar at bottom of browser screen.

windows 7 freezes

I forgot mto mention that I too have tried all three browsers, since I typically used firefox and IE and thought they may not be compatible. I then downloaded the windows 7 compatible(64bit) version of chrome and same thing happens with all three browsers an all computers on the network.

Microsoft needs to come up with a solution for this as its very annoying and frustrating, and in my case costly as well as had to take time of work to have my ISP appointment.

One more thing

The other computer on the network, that now has the exact same problem is running the windows XP os and used to be my main computer and never had this problem either evn when I was running VISTA on my new computer.

So it is obviously something in windows 7 the effects the entire network by somehow controlling the router the computers are networked to.

And as someone else reported these freezes seem to only last about 2 minutes at a time then everything works great until the next interval, and its on both computers.

So its not a graphics driver issue or a driver issue, as I do not think all f us having this issue are using the same computers with the same settings and we all niracously have the same faulty drivers installed. As I stated I purchased the only router that stated on the box it was windows 7 compatible and paid a hefty price of 130.00 for it to be certain that was not the issue. And made sure i installed it before the service tech came to my home to avoid an unnecessary service call.

MY issue seems to involve the NVSTOR service/process....I searched the internet and upgraded the Nvidia ATA controller driver...we'll see...

The reason MY system was freezing was (is) a RAID warning from Nvidia...(found thru Event Viewer)...

We''ll see...

Nvidia uses 1 driver for ALL their cards...they just change settings for each card...

BTW, it seems to be, for me, a controller issue...

I am also having a similar problem to this. Computer freezes up and keyboard lights go off along with mouse, started happening a little less then a month ago, its driving me nuts. Mine doesn't happen to often, it is completely random it can go 2 3 days maybe more with out freezing, or it can happen back to back. I cant seem to reproduce the problem, i just got finished playing a flash game, nothing happened. When it freezes im not doing anything intensive i am just simply switching from 1 tab to the next, and that's when it usually freezes, at first i thought it was IE only, but then it started happening on firefox. When i game nothing happens everything stays stable i dont lock up, just when im browsing. Everything is up to date as far as drivers go, all my main items i cpu bios gfx card, newest adobe flash player.

Last week my Internet Explorer of Win 7 froze. It was the first time since the end of last year when I began to run Win 7.

Right after encountering that issue, I did a clean installation, then checked the condition everytime when I install a new program or tweak (optimize) my Win 7.

At last, I found it happened after undergoing the "registry cleaner" of the "CCleaner".

If you did the same thing, this might be your consideration.

Hmm i installed CCleaner on 12/3/09 Seems about the time this stuff started happening, cant be to sure though.

I have not CCleaner at all. but I suggest it is either from flash player or graphic card. I saw lot of people have nvidia. I also have nvidia with last update and flash with the last update, last night I enabled flash plugin again, and I got another crash again. when I rebooted, I saw only a black screen!!

Allright story of my life:
Upgraded from Vista to Windows 7...happy
Browsed on IE for two day...still happy
IE froze up whenever anything with flash was taking place on the screen..not happy
Updated everything for flash and drivers, no luck, started to use firefox and it worked...happy
Firefox starting to do the same thing...not happy
Some of you say you went back to Vista. Now I would be very interested how one can get back to Vista. I mean Window 7 is allright but this is pesty. I got this computer with Vista installed, how would i downgrade back to Vista from Windows 7? I would like to know as soon as possible because this is just lame.

You will probably have to do a clean reformat with a windows vista cd. I think something has been going on with the new adobe flash and Mozilla or something.

A clean reformat? Will this bring me back to Vista with none of the things my computer had on it when I bought it?(EX. Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader)

I have seen a lot of proposed solutions regarding Windows7 freezing when accessing the internet, or internet associated software - indeed I had the same problem. I researched many posts and actioned many of the things suggested. However, there is one solution which has not been documented which I believe should be considered - go to Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > MR on Adapter > Properties > Configure > Power Management. Ensure that 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' is not switched on. You will find it is switched on by default. YOu should also switch off Internet Protocl Version 6,
You should also then play with the power saving options and see if there is any difference between High power and balanced power - if balanced power works with no further freezes, leave it at that else use High power.

I believe this is the solution to majority of freezes....and should be tried first before investigating further
