Hi
I've read all the threads here and elsewhere (I think) about these 2 issues and still need help! :o

1) I have no audio- I have tried tons of drivers sigmatel stac ac'97 and even the intel ones thru win update. still no sound, though the speakers icon does look like it's making noise? I have sound thru a headset. Does that mean that something's wrong with the actual speakers, not win7?

2) When I had RC7100 installed, I think the fan control was working ok. Now that's expired and I did a clean install of home premium. I can't get I8kfan.exe to give me a temperature reading on the CPU, so it doesn't automatically turn on the fan- I set it in compatibility mode to run at winxp SP@ and SP3 -- no good, so my lappy shuts down from overheating.

Can anyone help me? If I can't get the fan control to work, I'll have to return to XP.

Thanks!

I right clicked on the icon, chose playback devices, which brought up the sound window- the only thing listed under the playback tab is "speakers, sigmatel c-major audio), default device."

click on speakers and then set as default..

there's only 1 item listed under the playback tab, which is 'speakers'. and I click on it, but the "set default" drop down is greyed out

it does already state that the speakers are the 'default device'

I have the audio driver if you need it. Drop me a pm and I'll email it to you.

Having the same issues with the temp's. You can manually turn on the fan to keep it from over heating like I did but Im not sure on the getting I8kfan to work right. If you get it working, let me know.

I've been pulling my hair out trying to get my wife's audio to work on the 710m, and this is the best lead I've found. So, I registered for the forum for the express purpose of PMing you, and the system tells me I don't have permission to send a PM.

Help!

(Ironically enough, I'm also from Grand Rapids, MI... maybe it will be easier to check the yellow pages :) )

Update: For anyone else wondering, apparently, I need to not be a "new member" to send a PM. Unfortunately, I don't know how to not be a new member. (Considering the "new member can't send a PM" rule is to prevent spam, it would be ironic if I exit "new member" status by post count. I hope it's just 24 hours or something.)

In the meantime, kdogg, if you see this, PM me, please! Or e-mail cwhite, at sign, curlytops, dot, org.

Thanks.
