7057 is Slow vs 7000

theman2009

New member
Anyone else had problems with 7057 x64 being slower then the 7000 beta? With 7000 everything was really snappy and pretty much bug free at least for me.

Now with 7057 I have tried both the upgrade from 7000 and a clean install of it but most things seem to take a really long time.

Games and such run just the same but things like saving something to the hard drive from like firefox or IE when you click on a file and the window pops up to telling you to save or open file after you click save it takes about 15 seconds now for it to actually start downloading where before on XP/VIsta/7000 it would take half a second.

Unzipping archives with winrar take the normal amount of time except for the unrar window to come up in the first place...again another 10 seconds plus at least but only just a second to unzip the actual file when the window finally opens.

Opening up newsbin pro does the same thing, the program opens in half a second but the window showing you the latest news for the program takes about 6 seconds to finally load which ties the whole program up.

It's almost like explorer or something is really bad in this version...anyone else having similar problems or know of a fix?

I have installed this version 3 times now once with upgrade and 2 fresh installs. If I use 7000 it's back to normal and my dual boot of Vista x64 is just as snappy as ever.

No problems here.
7057 is faster and more stable than any other builds of Windows 7.
It depends on how you install it. To get the best you need to do a clean install, no upgrades.
I am using build 7057 as my main OS. The best OS I have ever used. :D

Well I have done 2 clean installs and one upgrade the very first time I switched versions and it's still slow on those things. Everything else seems just fine, benchmarks are a little higher in 7057 and game fps seems a little better but any kind of unzipping/saving files just takes forever.

It should not take 15 seconds to bring up the unzip window then unzip in 3 seconds and same with downloading a file off both IE and Firefox latest release and the new beta.

Maybe I should rip some of the crap out of it with Vlite like I did with 7000 and maybe it's something that I didn't take out that is causing it..but I shouldn't have to rip anything out for it to work properly over something quite a few versions behind.

7000 had me hooked for buying windows 7 when it comes out, with this latest version I am gonna need to see another version that does just as good as 7000 did before I buy it now.

HDtune pro still checks the hard drives out as being just as fast so there is nothing wrong with them. I have defragged everytime after the installs and all my programs.

I really don't get it,must be a bug with this intel chipset maybe and the drivers it's giving me or maybe I should just use the drivers that come with Windows instead of installing the intel chipset drivers.

It's definitely related to your hardware, on 7057 if I right click and hit extract all the window is up before my finger is off the mouse button.

7057 on my laptop which has been upgraded from 7000 (which was upgraded from Vista) is more buggy than 7000 and a lot slower at booting. I have it installed on another partition on my other computer, and it runs perfectly fine, a lot better than 7000 ran on my laptop. Just all depends on how you install it and the drivers installed and any conflicts I would think.

This is either a program driver conflict that you installed (my guess) or its your system's hardware that's having problems
because I'm running build 7057 x64 & it's even faster than the 32bit version on my system!!! :p

You might have downloaded a version that's been hacked with a backdoor worm added in or a rootkit because everything I've done on this system takes seconds or less!
Like a window to open up is less than the blink of an eye!

I installed the 64bit version because my system is full compatible for 64bit & I've never used a x64 system before.
I must say that it's been a very pleasurable experience so far...
There's only been a few programs I had problems with & they were my fault because I forgot to install the 64bit version....LOL :sarc: Once I did that it's been Zooooooooooooooooooooooooom ever since!!! :D

i had the same problem with the upgrade on 64 bit and 32 bit of 7057 when upgrading from 7048. Well to find out microsoft screwed up in this version. If you take your sata drive on the motherboard off sata 0 and put it on sata 2 it will take care of problem. It was taking 15 minutes to get to the desktop and another 5 minutes to load startup. When i switched over to sata 2 took 35 seconds to desktop and no loading time on desktop.

Same here no problems with the 7057 build using it every day system. Only issue is programs that do not have the correct drivers for W7.

I also find 7057 to be buggier and slower than any previous builds to date. We have to remember that this was an Internal build and never intended for the public. Internal builds are strictly to apply fixes and see what they break in the process so they can be very unstable under certain circumstances and setups. There can be 2 builds a day sometimes, so until MS has another public release build that's known to be pretty stable, or the RC branch builds come out, we can expect this kind of behaviour on builds other than the 7000 public release.

I had good luck with 7057 too. Nothing has really been bad until now with 7068 and that's just the screen saver and power to monitor not working properly. I can just turn the monitor off but it does bug me. I have an open thread now if someone knows about this bug.
