I have been trying different configurations and it seems that the network drops off is what causes media centre to crash if playing a file over the network. It never seems to be able to recover itself either, the OS is still running but it is quite unresponsive. I believe that there is something wrong with the realtek 8139 driver in win7 I have tried newer and older ones I still get the same result.
