When I originally tried top update from 7077 to 7100, something failed and I had to cancel update. My 7100 install files were placed on a partitioned drive, Drive D. When Windows reverted back to the 7077 build, I found that all folders on Drive D are locked. They were most likely locked during the attempted 7100 install, but not released when rolled back.

I can manually unlock by going into each folder's security and manually add my user name as a User with full permissions. But I have a lot of folders.

Anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone know how to easily unlock?

Try selecting them all and editing their permissions. Give yourself total control if you need to.

Just to let you know, this is why we don't suggest you upgrade from an older version. I'm not correcting you, it's just that there are plenty of things that can go wrong. And it's not with Windows 7 only, it's for all versions of Windows. I'm not scolding you, just letting you know :).

Anyway, if that doesn't work, you may need to find a program that can do it for you, or you will have to back up your important files and reinstall the OS completely.

Thanks for replying. I've been using Windows Home Server since its beta days- everynight my system is imaged. Many times it has saved me a lot of time. I posted this mesage hoping there would be an easy way to unlock files- your suggestion did not work. So I simply started a WHS Restore on the partition- went outside and mowed the law and did a few other chores, came back and all was restored to last night, before the attempted 7100 update. Piece of cake ... :D
