7106 Bogus Alert!

As soon as the latest "blonder" looked over something immediately stood out! The first image here with the System Infor for Windows tools seems to lack quite a bit over what was just seen with the 7077! Have a look for yourself.



If you don't see why that looks "BOGUS"! take a second look at the screen just taken when looking for the expiration date.... oops! gave that one away! not seen as should in the second screen from the 7077 builds!

As suspected the simplified Chinese version of one of the latest builds being the 7068 or 7077 was simply "renumbered" during the translation! Additional examination will most likely reveal other faults to add here.

Like they say if it sounds too good to be true it most likely isn't!

As much as I believe in how hard you work at what you do for the forum, I just dont think that software is completely compatable with all versions of Windows 7, making it a little harder to tell. It also didnt have a digital signature but that didnt stop people from believing either.

One thing about the SIW tool right from the start is that is for every version of Windows from 95 up being on a wide platform base there. I've found one item in XP, Vista, and now 7 that saw a misreport. It's quite thorough when matched up against other programs.

The main difference besides the new installer now seen is the utility there is a stand alone tool that provides a full breakdown on everything not just which version of Windows or expiration date is shown. When first seeing that screen right off it matches the one for the 7000s!



For the last 2 months you saw the 4/10/2009 date being mentioned quite a bit to see the 32bit 7077 seen several days ahead while ending up waiting for the 64bit on when? 4/1/2009 to appear. Now count how many days since the 7068 until then were seen. You should get the idea right off that it was just too soon for the next.

As far as the 7000 builds you won't see any expiration date just like as seen from the image there. The 7077 on the other hand sees the 6/1/2010 in plain sight! This is why keeping a close eye out for obvious "fakes" or some mishmesh is the first thing to consider when looking anything new.

Why don't you just run cmd prompt or type "slmgr.vbs /dlv" in search and see what you get?

That only further indicates it being a fake simply being downloaded from two different sites. You can't go by the boot time there however since that will automatically be different for differing time zones to start with.

That only reveals the local time and date when installed not the actual build date. The lack of the expiration date as well too little information shows another flaw of not being an actual detailed translation from any of the newer builds. In fast a side by side comparison shows too much missing while not activated yet between the name at the top and the kernel info.

My big problem with all of these is why on Earth would the product key be deliberately hidden since until RC the Beta keys will all continue to work.

Why also hide expiration date

If you want people to believe in the Genuine Provenance of the build then images shouldn't be tampered with in any way.

As a free lance photograrpher (amongst other duties) I understand that "A little Photoshopping goes an extremely long way".

I think the community could have got a lot more interested if this build had been labelled 7095 for example -- especially on some other sites build 7100 seems to be the actual RC.

Of course all things are possible but why Microsoft would introduce a LATER (presumably more advanced build) into CHINA before testing in the WEST I have no idea.

Of course China is a huge market and most certainly can't be ignored but as for general levels of "Computer Literacy" amongst the general population who don't come into contact daily with Western companies the standard is still fairly (albeit increasing) low.

(Please don't infer I'm slagging off the Chinese here -- I'm certainly not --been to Shanghai and Hong Kong few times and am very impressed - but Shanghai and Hong Kong are not typical China)

Any decent leak is likely to come from places like Russia if past experience is anything to go by.

Incidentally Ollie007 is correct in that build 7077 expires on 2/03/2010 and the water mark is shorter now --just says evaluation copy. Build 7077 on the bottom line. No build date time string.

He's wrong in the interpretation (assuming he's set the LOCALE correctly). European dates are DD/MM/YY not that American abomination and confusing format of MM/DD/YY. -- Even YY/MM/DD would make more sense but MM/DD/YY (WTF). That format is of totally no use to man nor beast.

I'm sure anybody still running a EUROPEAN version of Build 7000 will confirm the expiry date is in DD/MM/YY format (or it would have already expired).

Well the thing that stood out right off is a look at how fast this was seen having just downloaded the 64bit 7077! timing factor! Then you see a serious lack of the information(not the blocked from view) provided by the SIW tool. lack of items in OS information!

On one previous attempt for the 7057 the download was a genuine leak at a Russian site while the torrent used was the problem. This time the torrent was a champ for speed without being a paid premium version for a useless build someone toyed with. Once I boot into it a few more times something else will likely turn up

When looking over one torrent site one thing will separate it from the previous builds simply by looking how this used upper case naming while the 7077 saw the "with trackers" added onto the end not part of the actual name.



The one other oddity to mention here was also seeing the translation bar at first site.



In order to see the supposed full water mark that was easily dragged away from the taskbar where it appeared automatically.



Now compare that to the sig below.

The difference is minimal. You can always tell American date format as last i remember there is no 11th of the 21st 2009 (11/21/2009) it's not that difficult to understand

Ok slightly off point here and not seen it mentioned anywhere else but might putting different product keys in give you a different Evaluation end?
The reason I ask is that going by the Evaluation end date showing above on 7077 it is a different date to my 7077. Mine states 02/06/2010 on build 7077. I use the partial key: PBJ73.

Probably nothing, or could this answer the difference in expirey dates?

I don't think it makes a difference what key you use to activate, it does appear there are two conflicting dates, and the 2/06/2010 was the date mentioned by Microsoft, so it seems that the winver about screen may not be correct.

The things that stand out the most right from the start on this is first seeing what appears to be the same logon screen the 7077 sees after the first restart while the entire installation starts with...

It's definitely an older working build with some changes seen since it was easily activated apparently either a 7000 or 7022 modified version once the translation was complete.

You first have to get used to trying to install anything however if you don't read Chinese(simplified) or don't regularly install softwares where you know how the next and other buttons go.

Now here's where the fun part is! Since this was a special case it needed the endorsement of a special admin(account that is).

Well besides a little fun seen there apparently there are some preloaded "tracking cookies"! being seen as the test partition set up for looking over any new builds is rather hidden in plain sight as the initial AVG scan reveals. With one quick look there are too many to be simply from the three intial IE tabs that open once connected online suggesting?
