Hi There!

I have a I7 920, with 12GB DDR3-1600 Memory, 2 x 300GB Raptors in a RAID 0, 1 x 300GB standalone and 640GB Standalone, and a ATI 4870x2 video card. I am upgrading using a DVD, and basically it's taken 7 hours before I aborted the upgrade (62% completed migrating folders and files). All my other upgrades have gone reasonably quickly (Though not as quickly as some other installs and upgrades seem to go on lesser hardware) though the other 6 builds I have run. I don't really want to run a fresh install, can anyone suggest a solution? Does W7 not really like ICHR10?

Try doing it with only 2gb ram install, during installation, put addition ram back in after it cycles & completes. Disconnect any un-necessary USB devices, USB camera, etc. They will install, later

Hi there
you must have a LOT of applications etc.

I did 2 upgrades from 7127 - one on a 4GB RAM laptop (dual processor T7250) and that took around 2 hours, and one on a 16GB Quad Q9400 desktop with a LOT more applications and it only took around 80 mins.

Suggest something is wrong somewhere with your "Upgrade".

Cheers
jimbo

My up grade took about 2 hours due to all the stuff i have loaded. I ran it from the DVD too. It checks everything on the system during the install and constantly reads the old windows reg. Makes it a pain, also mine failed the first time due to having USB stuff pluged in like a wireless mouse and hard dive after removing those it ran.

Not sure if anyones seen my specs, but this laptop I got at Walmart for $298 rocks socks. It does everything. My upgrade from 7127 took 20 minutes.

BTW - This laptop actually gets almost a 4.0 WEI.

Win7 7137 took about 53m to upgrade. I do upgrade via HDD not DVD.
Uninstall your Firewall and AV. (I use ESET SS 4.0.437) unless it is from Microsoft.
Some icons are goofy ( are now portable device icons), and devices are strange.. Printer is now a Portable Device. Scanner is a Portable Device. ( you try lugging them around all day.) Some programs that would not work in Vista SP2, install and work PERFECT in Win7.
