this has been happening for about a week now.....it started happening after leaving the pc running for 4-5 days it would become sluggish and programs would not open...now it seems to be happening after about 24 hours of running.

so i go to restart and it hangs on "logging off" , have to pull the plug after 8 hours of sitting

if, after i pull the plug and reboot....I then try to restart again within a few moments of the last boot...it will restart ok, no problem....it seems that if the pc runs for an extended time is when this problem occurs

symptoms:
most programs will not open after a while
websites would stop opening in chrome
cannot open folders on my pc

what i've checked:

all updates for windows have been added
memory diagnostic looks ok, i think there are no problems
ran norton, superantispyware, malwarebytes, ccleaner (registry as well)
if i boot in safe mode, and restart it boots up properly
tried setting back to a restore point 1 week earlier which was about when the problem started...did not solve issue

administrative event log in excel format: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1g8M6KUudXRZxXxzeuIaYcAdk_QRgy63z4rzAMBkpRlY/edit?usp=sharing

i have attached some event logs and summary event logs and administrative event logs in .xls and .txt format zipped

where should i start to fix this problem?

thanks for any help

Work through the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220165-troubleshooting-steps-windows-7-a.html reporting back as you go for other possible steps. You can run the Dell Hardware Diagnostics from F12 Menu but I'd also confirm them with the hardware tests provided.

Compare the install you have to the perfect install compiled in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164. If you still have the Dell factory install then that is the worst possible install of Win7 one can have, one which no tech enthusiast would run. I'd do the reinstall following the steps closely and sticking with only the tools and methods given. A million users have used this tutorial without a single complaint.

Otherwise consider running How to restore your Windows 7 computer to factory settings | Dell US followed by the steps in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219576-clean-up-factory-bloatware.html to mitigate the factory install. You can do those steps now to help improve an existing install, but I'd want to reinstall to get a fresh start with a perfect install.
