A $433 paperweight??

Hi,Great forum.
I feel so stupid.ok here's the deal.
My w7 was running like crap,so I decided to reinstall w7.
I burned 3 recovery disks.

So far so good.I thought these 3 disks were the the complete windows 7
system.
I now know they are for repair and recoverey.
So when I finshed burning the disks.

Cut a long story short

I had two options in bold red letters.
I erased the harddrive,can't remember what the other option was.

(the one I should have taken)
So I reboot expecting to load w7 up with the disks I just burned.

I get a grey screen with
error f3-f100-0004

What about the MFG warranty paperwork? Any phone numbers you can call ?

Call Toshiba. The Mfrs usually provide an installation disk for a S&H charge.

Maker will supply Recovery disks with bloatware. Better to find a clean copy Win7 DVD for your version.

All versions are in every installer but some are hidden by the presence of an ei.cfg file. You can extract the files, delete that file, recompile the ISO to burn an All-Versions DVD using this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/32055-bootable-iso-create-installation-files.html Burn the DVD from the same drop-down menu where you recreate the ISO.

Then boot DVD, select Custom install, wipe and format your HD, choose your corrrect version and install. It will activate with the key on the COA sticker on your computer.

This is what most tech enthusiasts do to overcome bloatware force on buyers by manufacturers.

You might have a recovery partition. They are usually protected and pretty hard to delete sometimes.

Hold down 0 (Zero) while you turn the computer on. If it loads to a recovery partition you're good to go.

Tried that,recoverey hdd flashed up on a black screen
so fast barely had time to read it.

Didn't go in to recovery mode.

Did it what's it been doing ever since i erased HD

please press(ok) to turn off pc

I can get into bios mode ok

There has to be a way to fix this.

I would be nice if you could get a picture of the current condition. Partition Wizard will boot and allow you to look at the partitions on the drive. But it does not appear to give you a picture you could post, of course a digital camera would.

It does, however have a Partition recovery option which I have never used, but you may think about if nothing else works.

GParted does have a "take photo" option.

Anyway, if you could get a picture for us it might help.

I do agree with the others, you should have been given a recovery DVD, or had a recovery partition on the drive, unless you deleted it.

LOL, I had the same situation with HP once. But after "discussions", they sent me a free one too. Glad to see that you are on the path to recovery.

One tip for this type of issue - if you use something like Gparted or Partition wizard's, boot disk you can often see the recovery partition - if you set this partition as active the recovery will sometimes start on re-boot even when the recovery options are missing from a normal boot, (EG. after installing a new OS that re-writes the boot sector of the system disk). This has worked for me on many occasions
