Is MS working on an email program to replace Live Mail? Live Mail is without a doubt the worst email program ever. I never see the same screen when I log on, and it takes forever to open emails. It's loaded with junk options you will never use, it seems that MS has taken a step backwards with this email program.

Live Mail has been junk sense day one. A bunch of junk all over the place. Adds trying to sell me every things from panty hose to bubble gum. If their is a way to straighten this mess up I don't know what it is and don't want to spend days trying to fix it.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. WLM works fine and certainly isn't junk. I don't see any ads and it's as fast as I expect a mail program to be.

Outlook.com is supposed to be replacing Hotmail, not sure if it will replace WLM. I tried outlook.com but wasn't impressed, don't see why MS bothered with it as it isn't significantly different than Hotmail.

MS has/is trying outlook.com which is going to replace Live/Hotmail.

https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa...1&owasuffix=owa%2f&id=64855&snsc=1&cbcxt=mail

DO NOT CLICK ON THIS LINK! IT WILL CHANGE YOUR HOTMAIL SIGN IN TO OUTLOOK AND YOU CAN'T GO BACK! I clicked on this link and it has now compounded my misery in trying to access my hotmail account. I did not change my hotmail to a outlook acct. now when I try to sign in to hotmail i get the outlook page and there is no option to revert back to hotmail.I have a trip to europe planned and every itinerary and tour vouchers are all on my hotmail acct. and I am absolutely at a loss as to what I am going to do. GGGRRRRR!

Look under Options and there is a link to switch back to Hotmail. At least for the time being you can switch back and forth at will.

Options should appear regardless of which browser you're in. It's a function of Outlook/Hotmail. If you are in Outlook, check at the upper right-hand side of the screen for an icon that looks like a gear and click on it.

In addition, you can log into Outlook with your Hotmail userid/pw and see all your Hotmail emails there.

I can log in to my userid xxxx"at"hotmail.com or my userid"at"outlook.com.

I think that Outlook.com is an e-Mail Server like G-mail and Yahoo Mail. On the other hand WLM is an e-Mail Client like Outlook Express, Eudora and IncrediMail. Therefore Outlook.com may replace HotMail in the future but not WLM. Only another and better Client from Microsoft in the future might replace WLM.

I have created an e-Mail ID in Outlook.com which is web based Server. There is no POP3 yet. I don't like (hate may be a better word to use here) Outlook.com because I find it very difficult to navigate there. I had created an incorrect frequent e-Mail ID there and for the last 2 weeks, try as I might, I am unable to delete it. There are several other difficulties and Microsoft had touted it as very easy to use.

WLM/Hotmail/Outlook.

Whats in a name? I've just received 2 emails from the new 'Outlook' into my WLM which I only use for Messenger registration. I don't know what the sender has done but the email is yards wide, requiring use of the horizontal scroll bar.Never had to do that before. I forwarded them to my Thunderbird program to make sense of them. Email programs are a personal taste and some years ago when forced by Windows to look for another program because they didn't include one with Windows 7 (except for WLM of course) I choose Thunderbird. I like it and in my opinion it is far superior to all the above and far more versatile. It is also on 'your computer' and under your control, which to me is far better than having to go 'on-line' to compose your mail. However you pays your money and you make your choice and I would pick Thunderbird anytime.
Whatever sails your boat as they say.
Regards.

It appears it depends on what page you're on in Outlook to get the option to change back to Hotmail (live.com), but I did find it under the gear in Chrome.

Right now I prefer Hotmail over Outlook but mainly use Thunderbird to access it, as well as Gmail.

After dealing with this debacle with 3 days of wrangling,it just started working again last night. After getting a "sorry, there seems to be a problem with Hotmail" page, getting switched over to Outlook (see the frantic post above) I could get on Hotmail with my sons android phone with no settings menu available,I was out of options.Went to work last night, came home and logged on and lo and behold, the Outlook inbox appears with an option to switch to Hotmail and all is well. Funny how these things can bring you to your wits end. Totally my fault for leaving so many important documents (for an upcoming European vacation) in one place.Never again. :o
