A bit of a strange situation with an IPOD.

Ok so, when i plug my ipod into my computer, all of my other USB devices quit working... and on top of that, the ipod doesnt even charge, and the computer doesnt even see it. At first, i thought it was maybe a windows 7 thing, so i re-installed my OS. But the problem still persists... The way i have to get my mouse (along with my ext hdd) to start working is to restart my system. Any suggestions on how to fix this horribly frustrating problem? thanks.

plug the ipod into another PC and see if it does the same thing, if it does, then replace the ipod.
also, try using a different Dock Cable.
