Solved A bit of advice please

My computer is really not happy at the moment has taken a lot of stuffing about just to get it to a stage of sort of functioning was wanting to know if a repair install is a good thing or should I do a clean install. reason I'm asking is because os is severely corrupted one or the other has to be DONE

Personally, if it's as bad as it sounds, I'd bite the bullet and completely reinstall. You really should look at making an image once your done as this dramatically cuts down the time and effort spent on this.

Back everything up and do a clean install. It would be the safest option and you end up with a clean slate. After the clean install, install most current chipset drivers, then drivers, then Windows updates (In that order). Make an image of your OS and keep on an external hard drive. When and if problems arise again, just reinstall from the image. It will only take about 10 minutes or so.

Check system files by running sfc /scannow

If you haven't had a clean install yet, then yes you should do one without trying the other steps first.

The installer is nearly driver-complete. You needn't change any drivers that are given by installer or Windows Update unless performance dictates the change.

Thanks to all who replied to my thread of yesterday (A bit of advice please) as I was hoping a repair install would be the way to go,but I sort of knew it would have to be a clean install.Am up and running again so once again thank you.

No worries man. I'm glad it's all sorted for you. When a clean install is all said and done, it's well worth it in the end.

Just remember to make an image of your clean install and use that to reinstall if you ever need to.
