a couple file types im having trouble with

2 file types im having trouble with....

.cab cabinet files
.bsa bethesda softworks archive

need to find a way to extract info from these...

i need to merge together a total of 8 .cab files into 1 file, and not in .cab format, but in a typical file folder (so i can double click to open and view its contents)

i need the .bsa files turned into the standard file folder format so i can merge information into them.

I would understand that your trying to view the files of the .cab files and then move them into a typical folder. You should be able to open these files using 7 zip. This should allow you to extract the files and move them where needed.

as far as the .cab files are concerned, ive tried both 7zip and jZip to extract/open... i started with 7zip due to the fact thats typically what i use. I decided to go the distance and tonight i downloaded/installed jZip because the properties are calling the .cab file extensions a "jZip archive file"... lol i found it a bit humorous to read the pop up message that "jZip is unable to open jZip archive file. file type not supported."

as shown, meshes/textures, etc... are file folders.... this is required so i can merge files together.

as for the .cab files, heres what im looking at. the .cab files labeled as Data, i need to merge them all together for 1 file folder labeled as Data, in which i can double click, and access the above info, meshes, textures, sounds.... the file path in the above 2 pictures are located in the data folder im trying to create with the pic below.

Perhaps you can list what you've read and save us the trouble of duplicate effort?

hmmm.....well mainly the wiki.... as i said, the only IMPORTANT information i am requesting here isnt general information on the particular files types. I simply would like to know how to convert them. the wiki didnt provide any conversion information. I suppose anybody posting on here would be posting what i havent found, seeing as i havent found anything on file conversion, and thats all im requesting

These .bsa files are game related? Found these 2 programs:

FO3 Archive Utility

Fallout mod manager

For the .cab files (which may be InstallShield Cabinet archive) try Universal Extractor
