I just bought a new MSI laptop. (Love it so far!) It is the 2nd generation Intel Core i5, it's a i5-2410m to be exact. It has the new Intel HD 3000 GPU built into the chip.

I am trying to convice myself and my father that I made the better choice getting the new i5-2410m instead of a core i5-480 or similiar.

I can't seem to find much in the way of comparision's between the two. (hopefully) How much better is the 2nd generation compared to the first?

And MSI's website isn't very technical...(link)

I am not sure if this is LED lit, or CCFL. I'm also not sure if this is 5400rpm or 7200rpm. And lastly, is the HDD using Sata 6gb/s or Sata 3gb/s? (Sata III or Sata II)

Well, I figured out it is only 5400rpm. However I still don't know if this is LED or not, and also if it is using Sata II or Sata III...

I am loving this laptop so far. I am even used to the spaced out keyboard already. It's really nice.

I'd think if the screen was LED backlit, or if it was SATA III, that would be mentioned specifically, as those are premium features still. I think you can assume it is neither. That said, perhaps all their screens are LED now, so it's not mentioned. I'm sure your post at their forum will get you the correct answers ;)
