Hello people and happy holidays.
Well, thanks to your advices I had a successful installation of the Windows 7.
However, I want to ask some more things.
I put the Windows 7 professional 64 bit edition (official and original) but I still have on the other disk the XP version.
Shall I just format that disk and nothing else or do I have to reinstall the windows 7 formatting both disks.

And the second question.
Although my cd is original or it is supposed to be(as a student in Greek university I have free microsoft software) I cant activate my windows. It says that the key is invalid.

Pararam!!!!

That's it.

I will be waiting for you and thank you again

Just to clarify, you have two hard drives in the computer? If you do, then you do not have to format the 2nd one to install windows. You can leave it alone.

I assume that you did a clean install of W7, because that is the only way to do it with XP. If you are concerned about the authentication of the W7 install, this should only become an issue if you ever need to reactivate W7 on the telephone, rather than just online automatically. Therefore, keep your XP key available if necessary.

As far as it not accepting your key, continue on without entering it, and after the installation has finished, try entering it via the link at the bottom of System Properties. If that gives you problems, then use the method described here:

I have one hard disk but it is in two parts:C and D.
Now on C I have windows 7 and on D XP.
I want to clean up the XP disk because I dont need them anymore and I am more than happy with the 7
But it seems that I cant just format that disk.
And about the activation. I have already installed the 7. It just needs activation online and when I ask it to do it it says that my key is not the good one but in fact it doesnt even ask me for a key
I hope I was clearer than before
Hehehe

I don't imagine that there is a problem with your key. Did you look at the link I gave in post #3 above?

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks as though Tews has it covered.

Simply call your school where you got your disc from and explain that they need to authorize more activations for the key they gave you... its a simple procedure and nothing that you need worry about.... Good Luck!! :D

As far as removing XP from the single-HD dual boot, can you please post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management drive map, using Snipping tool in Start Menu and attaching file using paper clip in reply box.

We can then tell you what is required to remove the XP partition so that it doesn't interfere with the Win7 boot.

If Disk Management is not allowing you to delete XP, it is most likely because it is system active. The Win7 partition needs to be marked active, then using the excellent free Partition Wizard CD delete XP, Resize WIn7 into it's space, then boot into the Win7 DVD repair console to run Startup Repair 3 times to write the MBR to newly resized Win7 partition.

We do these every day here with about a 95% success rate, but you should back up your files and perhaps a Win7 drive image because resizing operations can fail.

We can advise you for certain once you post back the Screenshot.

I followed method 2 and the error is still the same
What is disk management drive map?
I know how to use snipping tool but I dont know this disk management drive map

Is your Win7 version even an Upgrade? The workaround is only needed if you have an Upgrade version being installed to a new or formatted HD. It can also be accomplished with a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?ltr=R run from the desktop.

The activation issues can more likely be cleared up by your school where you got the download; as Tews has posted the error is because the key is over-utilized. This is not a worry as your school will make it good.

About the activation I guess the answer lies somewhere in the University. HEHE
