a few pictures have disappeared and can't be retrieved

three pictures (that I've noticed) have disappeared off my computer. They were flagged in windows live photo gallery but so were many others (all of which are still there). I followed the advice on another thread with a similar problem and used shadow explorer to retrieve the files. While exporting all of my photos from shadow explorer three photo files could not be copied. I assume these were the three that are missing since they were still missing. What is wrong with these files? Does anyone know how I can retrieve them?

Piriform (the company that also make CCleaner) has a free recovery tool called Recuva. It may help. Particularly their "deep scan" feature.
