I've used Windows Media Center a couple times and like the look and feel and would use it if I had a couple of these things.

1. Is it possible to skin?

2. Is there a way to sync free tv shows and movies to it, or something along those lines?

Thanks.

In answer to your questions:

Yes you can skin WMC (an example of this is available at TweakWin7.com - Black Windows Media Center Skin)

It depends on where you live, if you live in the UK it's possible to recieve BBC iPlayer (totally free) and Sky Player (free to subscribers) with only the installation of a plugin. I don't know if it's possible in other countries.

I hope this is of use.

There are a lot of addons for it yes. You can use the builtin Internet TV for some stuff, but a lot of that is clips. You can also get things like Hulu desktop, PlayOn, etc. This site is pretty cool when you are just starting: Windows 7 HTPC
