Solved A horrific multicar crash at Daytona.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A horrific multicar crash moments before the end of the Nationwide race Saturday at Daytona caused Kyle Larson's car to become airborne into the frontstretch catch fencing, shearing off the front half of the car and leaving large pieces of the vehicle inside the fencing.

Track crews are worknig now to repair damage to safety fence before tomorrow's Daytona 500 Sprint race.

I just watched the ongoing press conference on speed and I'm getting the feeling their stalling.

I hope not, but don't be surprised someone died.

Seems odd they didn't know what hospital the injured were taken too, yeah they were lying and holding back.

I would like to think of it as creative reporting, wouldn't you as a relative like to know something officially that one of your family passed away before hearing it on national news?

In My Humble Opinion (IMHO):
Sure the public/me has a right to know, but only if it involves us personally, yes, I watched it happen live and shouted an exclamation, and I feel bad about it, but to me that isn't the same if I knew I had a relative sitting in that area of the stands.
The reason I brought it to your attention was I know you have an interest in NASCAR racing.

Call me a hard hearted Bas***d, but anything else is just being nosey.

I like many have watched many NASCAR races. I do know that NASCAR tries to keep information flowing but only when appropriate. NASCAR is also known as being very quiet about internal NASCAR things.

I do wonder why a car hitting a fence gets ripped in half. That car will be completely inspected in a lab environment to try and find out why. If correction need to be taken it will be done to all cars that race in NASCAR.

I just thought the NASCAR person and Chitwood both tried not to say anything, and it worked. Nothing new was learned about the incident except 14 people were treated at the track. He claimed he didn't know where the other people were sent although the rest of the world did and there were reporters there. He kept mentioning their safety protocols like he was being accused.

It would not violate privacy if they had said one person went to surgery and another is in critical condition. Chitwood also said there were no people standing next to the fence at the time because of a buffer. There are pictures on NASCAR on Yahoo that shows one man leaning on the cable on the fence and others standing there.

If I were a relative those two's reports would make me worry.

All in all it was a good race with, I think, a record number of lead changes. Would have been interesting to see Danica go the 200 laps, she had a hotrod until the engine went south.

Not telling reporters what hospital the people were transported to is a good thing. If you tell them like most news reporters will have camera's and mics stuck in family member faces asking stupid questions. If the families what to talk to reporters they will let the reporters know. NASCAR will do their best not to turn this into a reporters circus with the injured people and their families and friends.
