A little issue with Windows Live Messenger

Hello, I'm having a little issue with Windows Live Messenger.

all was fine, Windows Live Messenger signs in correctly and all but today whenever I click on the e-mail button to go to my hotmail inbox or click on that yellow message that says I have a new invitation internet explorer only opens the sign in page.

Before it would take me directly to my inbox or to my profile configuration to accept the invitations to join networks of my the contacts who added me to msn but now I only get that sign in page.

I noticed that the problem is only on my current account, I created a new one and on the new one msn takes me to my inbox correctly.

think it could be something related to internet explorer at user level? I mean, on the other account I created all is working right.

So any idea of what it could be the problem? it isn't on Windows Live Messenger level since I already did a full uninstall and I mean full by removing even registry keys, folders and all. and that didn't solved anything.

So I'm sure it has to be something internet explorer level

Try removing all the IE add-ons. Tools, internet options, advanced, reset. This will remove all the addons, but they can be reinstalled later on.

that didn't worked neither

I noticed something comparing it with the other account I created, I noticed that on the one that it works when I click on the e-mail button and internet explorer opens the address bar first shows an https address before showing my inbox but on the one that it isn't working is not showing that, the address bar remains empty and it simply takes me to the sign in page.

Here is another solution:

You can trafer everything but programs (they must be reinstalled) with windows easy transfer to the new users account. After you give priviledges for the programs to the new account, you can delete the old and use only the new

That won't work, that is for transfer setting from windows XP or Vista to Windows 7, I can't even install it.

When I had Vista, it tested easy transfer. Transferred from Vista to Flash Drive back to Vista. It should work the same in Windows 7. Windows 7, I think has it preinstalled, type easy transfer in search and see what comes up.


EDIT I just tried it on my computer and it IS preinstalled. Type windows easy transfer.

I'll leave that as a last resource, I mean it does include have to reinstall the programs and I don't think this justifies that.

There has to be something I'm missing here, I mean msn does show how many new e-mails I have, the only block is that it doesn't logs in to hotmail automatically when I click on the e-mail button, it just puts the sign in page on internet explorer. I'm sure the problem is something really small that broke up the link between msn and internet explorer.

My problem is solved! I fixed it thanks to this:
