ive got installed 4 stick of ram at the mo totaling 3gb ive just bought 2x 1gb sticks
specs

Slot 1: 1GB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz 240 Pin Dimm
Slot 2: 512mb PC5300U DDR2 667Mhz 240 Pin Dimm
Slot 3: 1GB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz 240 Pin Dimm
Slot 4: 512mb PC5300 DDR2U 667Mhz 240 Pin Dimm

And ive Purchased 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-5300P Hynix Memory :)
and tryed installing it but it made my comp not boot and it kept beeping at me
so i tryed the new ram on its own and same , i had this issue in my last pc running 4gb PC24300 memory
but all i did there way cleaned the ram slots and ram itself and did the static discharge trick (remove all cables and hold power button) and it sorted that:p
so why is this pc being a pain?? :sarc: Have i made some stupid error or is there somthing im missing? :sarc:

The 5300P may be ECC RAM and your motherboard may not support ECC.

The other 5300 sticks you have may be non-ECC and that could be why they work.

Motherboards generally support one or the other, but not both. Non-ECC is much more common and likely to be what you need. ECC RAM is most often used in servers or highly critical situations, but the motherboard must be compatible---ECC and non-ECC are not interchangeable.

The chance of a consumer level Acer motherboard supporting ECC RAM is very small.

http://www.offtek.co.uk/ram-memory-2/acer/acer-motherboard-memory/em61sm/mid84204

above link is to a UK supplier for RAM for that board and all listed are non-ECC.

I'd go to the Hynix website and look up your RAM number and confirm that 5300P means ECC. If you confirm that, you have the wrong RAM.

You could try Belarc or Systems Information For Windows to get info on the RAM if Hynix web site fails.

but i have read in many places that ECC ram can run on non ECC Ram motherboards :S and one person Placed a Non ECC before the ECC Ram Module and didnt get a POST Memory Error:/ gonna have a hunt around find out a little more on the subject, if i can find anything of use ill pop it up here for future refernce :)
