You've seen a SSD for $97. Since you have no money you borrow $50 from your dad and $50 from your mom. $50 + $50 = $100 right?

You buy the SSD and get $3 back. You give your dad and mom $1 each and $1 you keep. So you now owe your parents $49 each.

$49 + $49 = $98 + your $1 = $99, right? Where now is the other dollar?

In actual reality you only borrowed $49 from dad & $49 from mum, as you have already paid them back $1 each. So you buy the SSD for $97 & you pocket the $1 change.

Dad $50 - $1 = $49, mum $50 - $1 = $49, total $98.
SSD cost $97, you have $1 left over, total $98.

$97 for drive + $1 in your pocket = $98 that you still owe.
