A mouse problem

I brought a dell laptop a while ago, and I have been using a usb mouse with it for a while. However, recently I have been experencing some problems with the mouse - it seems to freeze up, the sesitivity seems to change, and other assorted problems. I have tried a number of solutions, but to no avail. Can anyone help?

Go to the website of the manufacturer and make sure you have the most up to date drivers.

What solutions did you try? If you don't tell us, your just going to get the exact same suggestions again.

Tried that, its a tesco technika mouse BTW, but it wont install.

Edit: more specficly, I get 1628: Failed to complete install

I dont think its a driver problem. I have some driver software and It diddnt seem to think that I had any outdated drivers for the mouse.

Did you try replacing the batteries or changing which usb port the adapter is plugged into? If you have a USB port on a different part of the computer, try moving it there.

using it now, it works when I use it for extremely short periodsof time, and after about 2 seconds of unsing it consatanly, slows down and the pionter stops moving altogether. After a while of leaving it it works again, but not for long.

it may be batteries. I will try that ASAP.

I just replaced the batteries, and it seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks for updating us with the outcome.

It just goes to show that the solution to a problem can often be the most simplest of things - in this case, a wireless mouse with failing batteries.
