A problem with EncSpot

I have Win 7 Professional 64-bit running on a Dell Inspiron.

EncSpot is a very useful program for providing full details of mp3 files. I have previously run it without problems under XP.

I have now installed it (Ver 2.0) on my new PC under Win 7 and there is one problem. It works perfectly if I open it and then select the files to be examined. However, the context menu (right mouse click) does not work. If I select the folder containing the mp3 files and right click and select EncSpot, EncSpot opens but no files are displayed. I've tried changing the compatability to XP/SP3 but this has no affect.

Has anyone come across this problem?

Yup. I have the same problem. I havent tried running it in Windows XP Virtual mode though.

I've seen this issue in various applications where context menu items are not working correctly - the cause is I believe due to running a 32bit app on a 64 bit system.

Although the installer, (with win7 s assistance), set's up the actual app correctly the context menu Items are not set or incorrectly set.

With the increased use of x64 with win7 this was seen more and more during the BETA testing

The hope is that the next version of the application released will take 64 bit requirements into account.

It may be possible to do this manually on an application by application basis but would require a thorough knowledge of the actual application involved

EncSpot works in XP Virtual mode but it's terribly slow. To be honest, Microsoft needs to speed up VM or get rid of it. IMO, it's all but worthless in most situations. Even smartphones have a faster CPU than the XP virtual mode running @ 500 mhz! :shock:
