a question about installing new windows

Hello. I want to install windows xp on windows 7.If i install windows xp on windows 7, will programs, that are installed in D be deleted?

I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you trying to replace Windows 7 with Windows XP?

But, nothing on D will be deleted if you don't install to that drive.

Even though the programs on D won't be deleted, I wouldn't expect them to run when you go back to XP.

Since you would be downgrading, your only option is a fresh install, which wipes out the system volume. If your system volume is C, then D will be untouched. If it is D, then yes, everything will be wiped out.

That being said, since you will be doing a fresh install of XP, you'll need to reinstall your applications anyway.

You can do an in-place install of Windows 7 that basically copies itself over itself, and your programs may still work. I'm not sure why you have to fear reinstalling programs. If you plan ahead, they don't take too long.
