a question regarding the sidebar

probably a silly question to most of you lol but here goes.on the screenshot(which is not mine btw) there're application shortcuts on the sidebar,and I've seen drives pinned onto the sidebar like you do with rocket dock.how do you do that cuz I don't see anything on my gadgets window that can do those some third party gadget?

I use desktop Sidebar if i use any at all - here

some pics of desktop sidebar included - and yes it works fine with windows7 no hack required - there are plenty more skins as well. quick launch works fine, calendar, messenger, etc.
