Have an old XP that I have been clearing out out a lot of the old downoaded games reg cleaning software through regedit. This was because I had annoying apps loading that I couldn't get rid of them via the usual Programs and Features, All programs and even tried Revo.
Doing this as safe place to try out new software etc.
Now I am not terribly savvy and have blundered big time in that now I have deleted something in the reg thinking it is another bloatware or a game but I have an awful feeling that it is needed for the machine to start up.
I switch on and the Dell sign comes up but very quickly goes to a black screen with Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A05 at the top and other stuff ending with a message:-
Secondary drive A not found
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to to run set up utility.
Plus a flashing cursor.
Now I have tried pushing both keys several times while booting but nothing happens.
I have even turned on with the Dell reinsallation disk that came with the machine but it does nothing.
Now I have obviously done something really bad and I cannot see any way of getting the disk formatted and reinstall the XP.
Is there a way out of my predicament because the chance of me getting another hard drive to fit I am thinking will be slim if not impossible.
So am I looking at scrapping this machine??
