I'm looking for a good learning/tutorial book about Windows 7. As much as I find this forum very helpful, it looks like I'll need a real book with me when I upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. The book has be good and thorough, not for the tech-savvy geek or an IT pro but for a normal guy who just installed the new OS.

What would you recommend?

TIA

Non taken. But, after all these years of using Windows XP, I think of myself as an "intermediate" user, and not a complete beginner when concerning Windows. Nevertheless, this book might be a good choice as it is a pretty big one (according to Amazon)...

TY, rfe for the kind words. Trust me, I did not just post the information hastily. The complete selection of Tutorials is more complete and better written than any book you can buy. They are written in simple language, so they can be understood by all; yet I and some of the other Gurus find them indispensible. Edited, by our own Brink of this Forum.

Ditto. GREAT tutorials! I spent two days there just browsing the topics. Very comprehensive. Former teachers recognize a good thing when they come across it! ;)

I really believe they surpass anything out there; beginner or pro, the tutorials can help.

The Missing Manual by O'Reilly is the absolute best I have seen. There are also more advanced books in the O'Reilly library that are tops, but I would start with the Missing Manual.

That was reviewed on Slashdot recently:

Slashdot Book Reviews Story | Windows 7: The Missing Manual

slashdot said:
I found Windows 7: the missing manual a valuable reference to the many offerings in Microsoft's latest incarnation of Windows. While the writing style varies from simple reference to the occasional attempt at light-hearted guidance, it is a comprehensive, informative and (most importantly) useful manual of the ins and outs of using Windows 7 in all its flavors.
