"A required CD/DVD device driver is missing" msg when installing Win7

Hi there,

I was wondering if any of you could help me out. I have a Dell XPS 15z L511Z laptop (64 bit, Windows 7, 500GB hard drive, 6GB RAM). Two nights ago, I was factory restoring the laptop to its default settings, when partway through, the screen flickered a couple times, and then restarted with a message saying

“BOOTMGR IS MISSING
PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL TO RESTART”

Weird… It’s not doing anything. I unfortunately don’t have the DVD’s for the laptop, except for one driver disc. I popped it into the laptop, and it didn’t even read the disc – it just spit it back out. Tried it a few more times, and nothing doing. I didn’t want to force it in, so I figure that wasn’t working.

I downloaded an ISO copy of Windows 7, and put it onto a bootable USB key, and changed the boot sequence in the BIOS so the USB key loaded first. Thankfully it did… however, when I click on “Install Now”, a window pops up saying

“A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step”

Since my CD/DVD drive doesn’t seem to be working, I’m not really sure what I should do here.
I’ve read up on this topic today, and a lot of people have been suggesting to switch the USB key into a different port, but that hasn’t done the trick for me.

Really looking forward to somebody helping me out with this. It’s been a frustrating couple of days to say the least, I just want to install my Windows and move on.

NOTE: It doesn’t matter to be whether or not the stuff on my hard drive remains intact. I had like 3 .mp3’s and a few pictures on there, so keeping the data on there is not a big deal!

Fat32, but that should not matter as the program will format the flash drive when you burn the files to the usb stick.

Personally I like Wintobootic, it`s so simple.
