Solved A required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing

The error means the installer is bad. Download another ISO and burn to DVD or write to stick using tool in Step 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If flash stick install fails again, try DVD install.

Test your HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan.

While Diskpart Clean Command can help overcome some install issues, Clean ALL is overkill which wastes time.

I am completely frustrated with installing via USB. I've tried it 7 or 8 times in the last month or so and it always fails. I use a disc and boom; no problem. I have no idea why it doesn't work. I've used different usb tools and used different ISOs. It just never works for me. /end crying.

Oh.. I just burned an iso to disc and it installed just fine.

It might be your flash stick, the way its formatted.

I had the same problem.
My sollution was:
put USB in 2.0 port (not 3.0, there is no drivers in Win7 for USB 3.0)

But not earlier in the thread. I found this thread googling the issue and were in not for the last reply that mentioned the USB 3.0 issue I might have been chasing this instead

This thread predates the growth of USB3 and was not updated until recently. We have countless threads about each issue which may go without update for years until good people like yourself update them.

Whenever a thread I am subscribed to is updated and comes up in the queue, I always take time to review it so that the latest tutorials and information are appended to help those doing searches. This was added to Clean Reinstall Windows 7 over a year ago and it is linked here several times.

Our threads never die due to millions of google searches, but it depends upon exactly how its phrased which one you'll come upon.
