Hi All!
I just ran across something I think is strange.
I'll attach a screen shot so you all know what I'm talking about.
It's all about the advanced boot options in msconfig.
1) Now, regarding the Processors thing, I've read that Windows 7 only uses one core when booting regardless of this setting.
2) Now I'm reading this about memory usage. wouldn't this also apply to just the boot time and not during the full operation of the system?
I'm confused and a little bit suspicious of this advice.
What's your take on this?

No, actually that option will limit your RAM size to whatever you want, but in everything, not just the boot process
As long as you leave those boxes unchecked, windows will use the max. amount of memory available and all the cores on your processor

I'm not sure I understand.
I have 8GB RAM.
If I set it to 4GB RAM, does this mean the OS will only use this much? And will the programs still see 8GB?
I don't get it

Why do you want to restrict the usage of either? Just leave it alone, and it will utilize all of it with both.
Those settings are just for testing purposes.

I see, and thanks.
I couldn't figure out why a person would want to mess with that.
