Just a thanks from an old member. It seems like I have been running win7pro forever. I have tried win10 and Linux Mint and always go back to 7. Many times I have cruised thru this board of helpful friends and found the answers I had been looking for. So I am just taking a minute and saying thanks for all your work keeping a great OS working like it should. I have several PCs and the latest and my favorite is an old Dell 980MT with an I7, 16g, a couple of ssds and a good video card and, of course Win7Pro. It's fast and cool and as silent as any I have seen. 200 bucks and a great investment. So keep up the good work and thanks again to all who make this board the really good one that it is.

I have done a lot of pondering in re: "death of W7" and even updated my backup PC hardware to W10 just to prove to myself that I could. But so long as W7Pro keeps running on this Dell laptop, I will continue to use it despite that now at least one of my key programs says "no support for W7 anymore". I have no interest to upgrade my E6540 because yes I have a backup for it, and mainly cuz I also have Dell's E-Port docking stations at our two homes that we switch between in summer and winter. So easy to pull-off and snap-in and everything works.

I've been thinking there should be a thread here with all the folks who've done as you and tried W10 and reverted-back again. So long as my programs work (FileCenter, Quicken, iMazing,Thunderbird, etc) and my hardware doesn't fail catastrophically, I will try to stick with it. It does have an i7 and works completely well enough for my purposes.

If anyone sees this and knows a thread "Regret W10, reverting to W7" I would like to know about it.

Thanks but I wasn't asking how to do it. I would instead be interested to hear the reasons WHY people reverted.

On the threads on how to revert you may find the reasons
