A very odd error when trying to install Win7

Okay, so I downloaded my copy of Windows 7 from DigitalRiver from the 741 offer for students. It gives me the three files as usual, but when I click on the .exe, I get a command prompt saying "Program is too big to fit into memory" before quickly closing.

I didn't even get this expandedSetup file that people are talking about, so I can't make a .ISO out of it or anything.

I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit, attempting to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Preimium Upgrade 32-bit.

I've tried re-downloading it.
I've tried using a different computer.
I've tried increasing virtual memory.
I've tried running as administrator.

Nothing seems to work, and I'm beginning to think I'm the only one so far with this problem. I even asked my computer science professor, and he thought the lack of virtual memory was the culprit. I have 3GB of RAM, and was able to free up 2GB to no avail.

Any help is appreciated.

You are far from alone Micrsoft is having problems with digital Rivers downloads, keys, etc. They have to work something out but no answer yet.

Hmm, okay. I was a little concerned because no one had this particular issue yet, but I'm going to assume it's the download at fault. Thanks.

Hi Killswitch... you're not alone... I have the same problem trying to upgrade from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32 bit... I bought a retail upgrade package but when running setup.exe from the DVD I get the error message.

would anyone know if perhaps the setup.exe file is corrupt, or are there any other suggestions. Thanks

Compile the files into an ISO to burn the DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed with verify.

Boot from the DVD to do a clean install. Will link to the tutorials when I get home.

I ended up downloading from an alternate source, and it worked. The file MUST have been corrupt.

Turned out to be a DVD drive issue, I copied the Windows 7 DVD to my USB stick and setup.exe ran without any problems. Windows 7 is now alive, goodbye Vista
