A weird sound from.....

Hi just today I am having a weird sound, someone speaking from I do not know where, Its a low audio, even if i increase the volume from the speakers, it still have the same volume from that sound, more over I was able to hear the sound even if I turn off the volume of the system. To stop hearing that sound the only solution was to disconnect the speakers from the desktop. I tried everything, I have no programs open, no internet browser open and still can hear that sound, it is around 10 second of duration and it pops up every 30 seconds which is very annoying. Even when I was restarting the system I was still able to hear that sound. Please I really need help


I have windows 7 home edition....

Welcome to SF. I can't explain what is going on but my bosses laptop running XP has just been corrupted with a virus where it constantly plays music in the background dispute 3 IT professionals trying to cleanse it. I have my own idea what he needs to do to cure this but he has it in his mind to chuck it and go with a new one. I hope you don't have a virus or malware attacking the system but you may want to update everything you have in that area then run it all in safe mode to see if you can find anything?

This isn't even coming from your computer.

I suspect it's radio interference and your speakers are actually picking up radio waves. I know this sounds bizarre and very unlikely...but I've actually had this happen to me once or twice.

I'm not sure what you can do about it, but try moving everything to another location in your room if you can...see if that changes anything.

Re-reading the post it does sound like RF interference or a poltergeist. Try moving the wires to the speakers, you can place a ferrite magnet around the cords. If you have a mobile phone or wireless phone try relocating that as well. Or call a Priest !

OMG it came back again.... does anyone knows for to fix this problem ...BTW i am using wireless since the PCI-E network drive stopped working... Also when I disconnect from internet the sound disappear...

Try moving phones, wires around. You may have a near by strong source such as an ham radio operator around you in which case only creativity and trial and error will solve this. Can you tell if it's a conversation or music or what the source noises could be from?
Also motors and pumps can have an ac whine, do you have a high quality UPS attached, they are a great insurance policy for line spikes and outages?

It sounds like a radio conversation, it last around 15 to 20 seconds, even if i shut the pc down, i still can hear the sound. To kill this sound is either disconnecting from the wireless or turning off the speakers, but i need both of them...

OK so get your wireless modems manual out or like in my case (Belkin) I just call there 800 number. You need to change the wireless channel which it's broadcasting over....it's easy once you go through it!

OK so since I posted I've put my '72 up on stands and replaced all my fuel lines and filters about 15' of hose and 20 clamps and a fuel shut off. Then got underneath and re-tightened one stubborn clamp twice and took it for a nice 45 minute test drive. Then hosed off the car and driveway and put the car cover back on, oh and started dinner. Now with all that I'm wondering how far you got with your Poltergeist? lol I'm 99% positive a channel change will solve the noise issue and and possibly improve your internet speeds.

I am getting crazy, i've change the channels of my wireless, still hear that sound, it seems that it pops up every morning, and now even i disconnect from the wireless, still can hear the sound, any idea of where it comes from?????

If you have a digital camera please take a picture of the wires, computer, desk and accessories. Something is picking up RF and have you tried moving the wires in the back around. Try isolating the power cords from the data cables from the speaker wires. Can you give me some details as to the system spec's, speakers. Have you a cell phone or wireless phone nearby ? Let's try moving wires and devices then go to the ferrite magnets.

Ok, my desktop (hp pavilion e9290f), the wires (they do not look like that messy, i took the picture from top ^^), speaker location, also I have phones and game devices on the desk, they have been like that for 2 years and nothing happened until a week ago, weird thing about this is that the sound pops up only in the morning around 9 am to 11 am or sometimes 12 after that it's normal again. Is my speaker fault or just I am unlucky???

Yeah, nothing odd going on from a wiring stand point. Can you think of any activity or person near by that coincides time wise with these noises. I wish I could look and say.....ah try this now. I know that from a pure stereo or home theater issue regarding wiring, you always keep all powercords together or as far from signal cords or interconnects. You can try this as well, trying to route the wires and even zip tie'g them so the cords are all tidy......this is a stretch. Then as I mentioned you can purchase some ferrites and wrap them around the lines.

Do you have a budget as I could make some suggestions? Are you gaming mostly, music, need deep bass or clear clean balanced sound?

Look around you neighborhood for a tall antenna attached to a building or a tower in some ones yard. A citizens band operator can cause this problem. I have heard these types of signals heard on a screen door when they transmit with to much power. That's no joke. If you live close to a port you could be picking up ships transmitting.

New speakers might not help, radio-waves travel better in the daytime than they do at night (or so I was once told by someone who knows a lot more about it than I do) which I didn't understand because I thought interference from the sun would be a factor.
