A wifi network that functions independent but utilized by 2nd network?

Can I to setup a wifi network that functions independent of my home network? Something I can connect to, manage and utilize with the devices on my home network, but not have its data spilling-over and slowing down my home network?

I'd like to keep camera traffic off my home network. So, I’m considering setting up two PoE dome cameras on a separate WIFI network with a Synology NAS. I'm thinking I can (somehow =bridge or something else) connect to the network and monitor it without having the traffic spill-over to my main home network.

Here is the equipment I'm thinking of using:

-Synology DS216
-Cisco WAP4410N Wireless-N PoE router
-Two Crucial 250GB SSD drives for the NAS
-One Outdoor IP PoE dome camera and one indoor wifi camera

Anyone have any input, advice, how to do this or improvements?

You can setup a separate network no problem the problem is connecting to it from the other home network it's possible but not simple

Can I simply use another subnet?

If you use another subnet it would then become back on the same network the simplest if it's using wireless is to connect to the other networks wireless when you need to use it

What about setting it up on its own Vlan or putting a Firewall between the two?

I assume in this day and age your running gigabyte netwrok so there is little point in splitting it with those speed it shouldnt be a problem have you tested and check if there will be a problem. With the 2 networks your still going to have traffic if your streaming from the other network
