In the PICTURE MANAGER of the 2007 Office I cannot find one function that often made use of in the old MICROSOFT PHOTO EDITOR:
the tool for selecting an area of the image and then deleting, moving it around, or copying it etc.
Where is it now?

Thanks for any help

Thank you, Golden: you suggest a new approach (though it means editing the image outside Picture Manater itself)
Thanks Irene. Your link is right to the point and so, very helpful.
I added to your reputation both.

I was a huge fan of the old Photo Editor too, and although I use Picture Manager now, I do miss some of the old Photo Editor features.

I think I have a work-around for you. It involves creating and editing a 2nd version of your image. So, for example, display your pic in Picture Manager and create a copy of it. (i.e. Save As pic2) Then in the pic2, use the 'Crop' feature to isolate the section you want to edit. In other words, delete (crop) everything EXCEPT the isolated area. Then Save those changes. So now pic2 will consist of only that area of the original pic that you wanted to make changes to.

Thanks, Imperfect1, for your contribution. But this is just the cropping function (and I could apply it to Pic 1 without the trouble of creating a Pic2). The feature I miss is another one: moving, deleting, copying etc.the isolated area withing the original Pic1 picture.

And Thanks, t-4-2, for your illustration. The trouble is in those menu items you point to, the function I mention above is missing. precisely.

(I added to your reputation both for your good will and effort.

The above site, unfortunately, does not seem to actually provide any downloading ability for MS Photo Editor. You go from page to page and link to link, but there doesn't seem to actually be any link that downloads MS Photo Editor.

GOOD NEWS! But I found one, and I've downloaded it, and it's WONDERFUL to have my original actual MS Photo Editor back! Here's the link:
http://sites.google.com/site/probeit/MicrosoftPhotoEditor.exe?attredirects=0

Credit goes to "Computing.net Toms Guide" (Download for the old Microsoft Photo Editor
and I got this from a poster's response, who said,
"Try here" http://www.ceveni.com/2008/04/micro... I did, it downloaded perfectly, and Voila! I'm a happy camper!

Thanks, Seavixen32, for sharing your knowledge of that application (I duly added to your reputation).
And thanks again to you, Imperfect1, for following up my query; your links help the downloading, indeed.

You're very welcome ACA. Let us know if you were able to download it successfully.

And by the way. . . I was looking for the link you mentioned ("the tool for selecting an area of the image and then deleting, moving it around, or copying it") and I couldn't find it. Where exactly is that?
