About System Restore

I have a problem in Windows 7 evaluation copy. I performed System restore twice and found that the recently downloaded files have also been removed during the restore process. Usual process should be rolling back of installed files only. Then why does it also deletes recent downloads?

* Is it a Bug in Win 7?
* Anyone got this issue?

Where did you save the downloaded files to?

If it was in a system folder, then that would be why. A system restore will restore all system files and folders to exactly as they were when the restore point was created.

I stored my files in E Drive without any folders. Further, I didnt not have this problem with Windows XP system restore option.

I'm not sure why it would delete the downloads from the E drive like that. System Restore only affects the C: drive that Windows 7 is installed on.

Yes, that is why i am confused about it. Is it a bug with evaluation version? May be the retail version will not have this problem. Can you check it for me when you perfom a system restore next time? :sarc:

Also, I do not have any additional Restore points . Only I have the last restore save point.

I think if you have not excluded the E drive under system protection that the restore will reset that drive back in time also. This had happened to me also.

But once I turned the monitoring off on all drives except C the problem was solved.
