I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I have read everything I can find to try and fix this.

Upgraded my motherboard and CPU. Reinstalled Win7 on SSD. Moved user files to one of my hard drives per the tutorial. Optimized Win 5 for the SSD per the tutorial.

My preexisting desktop items are unchanged on my desktop, however, most of the items give me an access denied error. A handful do not.

I have taken full ownership of the drive and all the children. I have set permissions to full control for the drive and all the children.

Looking at the files I can access, and the files I cannot. I can see no difference in the permissions, ownerships, etc.

Any ideas?

It's best to leave the shell User folders on C, copy them to HD, link each to the related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums. Then delete the content of the C User folders.

This avoids numerous unintended consequences from moving shell User folders which is moving part of the System to another partition.

Thank you for your advice.
If I move everything back as you suggest, won't I still not be able to open the files?

The permissions should change according to the folder they are in. If you copy the data into folders on the data drive, they should lose their shell folder attributes. Then you can link them as simple data folders to the related Library.

The top expert on this is our Admin Brink so I'll ask him to advise you further.
