Accidently Deleted eHome Registry Key for Windows Media Center

Hi,
I had some corrupted files on Windows Media Center and Windows Media player. I turned off these services and then ran CC Cleaner which deleted the eHome registry (required for WMC). When I rebooted and turned these services back on, WMP works great but I lost WMC. I tried a restoration point but cannot get WMC back. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. Any suggestions? Thanks

Steven try Recuva ate it might get it back for you there re other recovery programs but I have found this one quite good in the past.

Hello Steve,

If you have a restore point available that's dated before this was done, then you could do a system restore using the restore point to restore it.

Thanks for your feedback. I tried Recuva and I could not find the deleted file/registry. I also tried a recovery point from a few days ago and this also did not work. Any other solutions? Thanks

When you ran CCleaner did you backup the registry when it ask?
If so used the backup for the registry.
Just for your information we never recommend to clean the registry.

You should be able to properly uninstall and then reinstall WMC from 'Turn Windows features on and off'. Just type 'features' into the search pane above the Start button and it will show up on top in Control Panel category.

If it is messed up as you say, first untick the box for WMC in Media features and then click OK and let it finish the job, including a reboot if necessary. Then repeat the procedure, just this time with ticking the box.

Thanks Jerry, I did not back up the registry before deletion.

I also tried the solution in Windows Features - Turn On or Off a yesterday with no luck.

I did find this post and will give it a try on the weekend as it's a long process. Thank you all for your assistance!
