Acer Aspire 5738Z over 30 minute boot up time, anyone able to help me?

Hi, i've had this laptop for nearly 3 years now but i have never had any problems like this.
Yesterday when starting up my laptop, i realized it was running slow, i restarted the laptop to see if that would help but when my laptop had proceeded to the "starting windows" screen, the laptop didn't show the normal loading bar, i left the laptop for over half an hour before it finally made it to the log in screen, has anyone heard of or had this problem before? if so is there any way i can fix it? help would be much appreciated.

There could be several reasons for this, but lets get the obvious out the way. Please run a malware scan from outside the Windows environment, using this tutorial:
