Acer Aspire 5742 refuses to boot

Yesterday when I turned on my laptop windows wouldn't start and launched its error recovery. When I launched the startup recovery it gave me a black screen for 5 minutes, then an Acer desktop screen with nothing on it. The loading light will stay lit up for 5 minutes and turn off without the computer doing anything at all and stay at that screen for hours on end.

Any and all help word be appreciated.

Also note I am using my galaxy 3 in lieu of a computer, response times may be slow.

Another bit of info I thought might be useful is that I disabled automatic system reboot to see the error info and it came up UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. How would I fix this?
