Solved Acer Aspire 5742Z boots up, then black srceen with mouse only

Hi Folks, the laptop am working on Acer Aspire 5742Z boots up, then black srceen with mouse only, have reimaged it three times, works for 3 - 8 hours then stops and then black srceen with mouse only.

I have update bios after 3 crash.

Hi Again, am new at this so please bare with me. I just reimaged notebook again ran diag. tool. attached file. I have seen blue screen of death windows, but I only got it (bsod) one time out of 4 reimages.

Upload a screenshot of your hard disk using CrystalDiskInfo and Summary tab using Speccy:

Make a hard drive test from the hard drive manufacturers website:

Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:

McAfee is a frequent cause of BSOD-s, consider uninstalling it with the McAfee Removal Tool and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials (To test)

Perform a System File Check:

Reduce items at start-up. Nothing except anti-virus is required plus improves the time for logging in windows.

scannow done a few errrors.

Have run scannow, found some back sectors, also removed hard drive and replace with another new one. event log show same errors: Event Id: 100, 101 and 200, these have minimal impact, based on net search and my other pc which have them and been running for years.

So how are things now?

I have done following taken out ram, and changed the two sticks around. Ran Scannow, chkdisk ran and zero bad sectors now. All updates installed. Installed Speedfan and upped the speed on cpu. Speed fan show shows overall performance at 72%. Blown out notebook. Will check notebook tomorrow all day and see if that did it.

Turned on the laptop today, and now it stopped at Windows light blue screen with white cursor mouse. IN put OEM windows OS and hit repair. No good had to go to restore from backup. Fun Fun NOT.:devil: is working on my patience. I am going to use my new hard drive in it and see what tomorrow brings.

Original hard drive of 320gb which did not boot this Monday morning, replaced with WD 500gb sata. It booted up with no problem. Will f/u with another post tomorrow.

Replacing hard drive did the trick, old hard drive was only 2.5years old per MFG date. Case resolved.

Replace hard drive yesterday, got rid of original 320gb drive. Everything working no stops for freezes. RESOLVED.
