Acer Aspire 6290 Audio Problems

It seems as though the sound on my Acer Aspire 6290 is not working.

I've been encountering the same problem in ubuntu 9.04. Windows 7 registers an unknown device. Unfortunately, I don't remember the specifications on the sound card, but here's what windows says about the unkown device:

problem code: 0000001C
Physical Device Object Name: \Device\USBPDO-7
Location: Port_#0002.Hub_#0002

I don't know if any of this is useful. I just want my sound working. Any ideas for what I can do to make it work? What should I do?

Now there's the odd thing. It shows the same thing it showed in Vista. It shows that I have the Realtek High Definition Audio Device, but it's still not working.

I would suggest you install the intel chipset drivers for your model and if necessary the latest realtek drivers.

I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I've gone to acer's website, but the Vista x64 driver I downloaded for the chipset shows up as a zip file.

Edit: nevermind, I found the setup.exe. Gosh this is frustrating. I'm going to try that.
