acer fingerprint

I have an Acer TravelMate 5730 that I upgraded to Win 7 when it was released. Everything went fine except the fingerprint upgrade.

I have been in contact with Acer email support many times in the last week, when their "solutions" wouldn't work, they finally had me contact Aceranswerme where I shelled out $60 for a technician to take over my laptop via internet and try to repair the issue. After 45 minutes of him uninstalling and installing drivers and even bringing in the "senior technician" I was advised that Acer fingerprint appears to have a compatibility issue with Windows 7.... and it's Acer who sent me the upgrade package! They hope to get the issue resolved in the next month or so.

BTW I'm still trying to get the $60 charge taken off my credit card !!!! That's the most frustrating part.

Ouch, i got the validity drivers to work with win7 but not the acer bio protection stuff so im just going to wait until then. You should really make sure you get that money back. I havent even had a reply from acer.

acer fingerprint

I called answersbyacer this morning as they still hadn't called me back regarding the $60 charge. The fellow took my information and promised that someone would call me back today.

Someone did call to inform me that they wouldn't be reversing any charges as they provided a "best attempt service" and that they had tried their best!!!! I told him I thought it was almost like stealing. The laptop is new and under warranty yet you can't actually speak to anyone unless you pay the fee first. Catch 22 situation.

I don't know when Acer started this pay by the minute tech support, but I would advise people to be very careful when contacting Acer voice support.

I've owned many Acer products over the years and have been completely satisfied with the service and support, until today. This episode has definitely soured my opinion.
