Ok, so I have a new acer netbook and want to do a clean install. i have a windows 7-64bit oem disk and the acer has 64bit key on the bottom. I have removed all parititions and installed 7-64. When I try to enter the Product key from the bottom of the computer, the Acer says invalid key and won't let me continue. So I called Acer and they gave me the run around, but told me that it is a "branded" key that will only work with the partitioned restore.
That is obviously a problem for multible reasons, but most importantly, I have a machine that I can't do anything with at the moment.

ANY ideas?

You could always try skipping the part where it asks for the key (you have 28 days in which to activate windows)
Once installed if the "activate on line" option doesn't work try the phone option to authenticate

To Activate by Phone -
Open the Start Menu, and type slui.exe and press Enter.
If prompted by UAC, click on Yes.

Click on the drop down menu and select the nearest location to you for a toll free number to call, then click on the Next button.

A local phone number should apear under the section with a set of installation ID numbers generated by Windows and displayed on your screen

Call the activation phone number

The activation line will be automated, so you will be asked to enter or speak the installation ID numbers displayed on your screen into the phone ;)

If the robocall doesn't activate it, choose to speak with a person and tell them you are clean reinstalling using OEM key.
