Downloading now, but its going slow.

From what I've read, it seems the new version is more "SSD" friendly as well concerning alignments etc when restoring a partition.

Hopefully there are some improvements worth mentioning and upgrading for. :)

For those of us who try it out, let the rest of us know how it goes. I looked and my upgrade price is $29.99 which is more than I spent for the 2010 product which wasn't an upgrade and was $23.99.

Regarding the SSD friendly -- re- alignment, do you remember where you read that. I could not find find any information regarding that on their site.

Thanks

I've always just made a complete disk Image of my SSDs so its not affected by this.

None-the-less, this issue was supposed to have been addressed and resolved in this version :(

Damn you guys are bleeding edge! I love the 2010 version of Acronis, I even got work to buy a copy, but the only thing we have on SSD is a test database for our contact management software (which is currently active/useful). We haven't used Acronis to do anything more than backups, so hearing there's a restore issue with SSD is VERY interesting!

I'll go dig into it and see what's going on as I'd look pretty dumb if we can't restore with the software I suggested.. ;p

Thanks for the possible face-saving info!

I think the main issue is when you image a Spinning drive, and then try to restore that partition image to a new SSD for example.
Acronis trys to re-align and gets it wrong.

This is one reason why when anyone asks if They can image thier current mechanical drive over to new SSD they just got, I recommend a clean install.

If its a back up of the SSD, and restoring back to that same SSD, all is fine. At least always has been for me.

As I said, Ive had no issues with backups or restores with Acronis on my SSD.
Its never let me down or had any alignment issues this way.

Also, if imaging just the entire SSD, there will be no issue as it copies the image back exactly how it was. Aligment and all.

As for the 2011 version ....

I don't know about everyone elses thoughts but I hate the GUI.

I find 2010 much easier to navigate.

I didn't want to open a new thread so I will just ask here if that's okay.
I had acronis 2010 and i kept getting the BSOD when i inserted my usb stick cause there was a problem with the tdrpm251.sys working under windows 7 x64.
So the question is if it has been resolved in acronis 2011?
I have a image of my complete c dir with windows 7 fresh on it and because of the BSOD i had to remove acronis 2010 and if i cant use acronis i lose my image

Thank you

If you are familiar with working with your registry, go into registry and find every instance of tdrpm251.sys (use F3) and either set available values to 0 and delete any key references to tdrpm251.sys.
This should eliminate the BSOD's. Obviously backup registry before...
